GivingTuesday on December 3 marks the opening day of the giving season

(Ottawa, ON – November 26, 2019) – This giving season, the True Sport Foundation is asking for donations to help use values-based and principle-driven sport intentionally in communities across Canada. GivingTuesday is a global giving movement driven by individuals, charities, businesses and communities across Canada and in countries around the world. Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season.

Since 2013, GivingTuesday has united millions of Canadians to support and champion the causes they believe in. The True Sport Foundation believes good sport experiences can make a great difference in developing good people. Donations to the True Sport Foundation will help support programs and initiatives intentionally designed to instill character in our children and strengthen our communities.

“GivingTuesday and True Sport form a great partnership because our work is driven by similar views and principles,” said Karri Dawson, Executive Director, True Sport Foundation. “One of the True Sport Principles is ‘Give Back,’ and GivingTuesday is intrinsically based on the notion of giving back.”

The impact of GivingTuesday goes well beyond charitable donations, inspiring giving in all its forms. From coast to coast to coast, people embrace this day as an opportunity to raise money for local charities and non-profits, run food and clothing drives, give blood, encourage kindness, help a neighbour and celebrate generosity.
